Spotlighting the emerging artists, beatmakers, DJs and producers who are defining the modern underground sound of Asia and beyond, #RemixChina gives music makers like you the chance to showcase your skills and get discovered in the process.

Now it’s Harikiri’s latest single, “Ronin.” The emerging Chengdu-based producer is making waves with past releases on notable underground labels like 88rising and Do Hits.

“I wanted to make something that’s energetic yet felt lighthearted and playful like the adventurous intro sequence of an RPG or anime,” he said. “At the same time, I love music that is bass-driven especially when it’s with strong, bouncy drumlines so this track is a real blend — something that works well in your earphones but also bangs hard in a club.”

“In China, it’s interesting at the moment to see how sounds and styles from the West are being referenced and embodied by Chinese creators, not just to create remixes of Western tracks but to create tracks that feel local and informed.”
