Yoshitoshi is proud to release its first ever acapellas package, which features ten never-before available parts from the classic records that have been remixed for the label’s 20th anniversary. Among these is the acapella from PQM’s “The Flying Song,” which was originally released in 2000 and features a wistful and delicate vocal courtesy of singer Cica. The record is regarded by many as a high point of the early progressive house sound and it has since been remixed by a diverse cast of artists that includes UNER, Markus Schulz, Anthony Attalla, and more.

Now we are giving Splice users the opportunity to put their own spin on this timeless classic and earn an official release on Yoshitoshi. The winner will also receive a one-hour private tutoring session with acclaimed production school IO Music Academy in Los Angeles (either on-site or over Skype), a cash prize, a merch package from the label that will include vinyl, apparel, and stickers, and a thirty-minute guest mix slot on Sharam’s Yoshitoshi Radio program, which reaches over one million listeners a week.

PQM’s “The Flying Song” is one of our biggest classics and it’s heart-warming to see so much love for an older tune. In the end, we couldn’t decide between the two best, so we are giving prize packages to both Corren Cavini and Diego Barrera. Corren made a huge, powerful techno mix that keeps things simple and interesting, a perfect peak-time tool. Diego’s mix is deep, funky, and great for building energy. They’re very different mixes but both delivered the goods and I know I’ll be playing each of them a lot.
