Cloud Lamps Official Remix Competition

China is an Asian hub for modern electronic music. That’s why Metapop and Native Instruments are proud to present our next official remix competition series, #RemixChina.

Spotlighting the emerging artists, beatmakers, DJs and producers who are defining the modern underground sound of Asia and beyond, #RemixChina gives music makers like you the chance to showcase your signature sound and get discovered in the process.

First up, it’s Howie Lee’s exotic Asian beat “Cloud Lamps.” Taken from his 2015 album, Mù Chè Shān Chū, the Beijing-based producer brings some signature Far East flavor to the leading edge of electronic music.

“The inspiration for this track came from samples of Bunun tribes chanting,” he said. “Then I added some bass-heavy rhythm and a little bit of jazzy chords.”

“In China, what’s most interesting in the scene at the moment is that producers are starting to look back to older traditional music and instruments which is different from Western music. It’s cool when people want to make music that’s slightly different.”
